Interesting day

I worked 3rd shift Sunday night and Monday night which means I got off at 7 Tuesday morning. Today I had to go back in on 1st shift. I didn't sleep much yesterday, which didn't matter much considering I've barely been sleeping lately anyways. Since i was exhausted last night I did actually sleep a solid five hours and no bad dreams at least not that I remembered. I did have a severe headache this morning. I appreciate all of your comments and messages. I promised someone today that I would go see a doctor next week. This week I'm just trying to get through my daughter getting married.

The reason I'm working 1st shift is because they bought a new machine and I'm the only guy currently that has any knowledge of how to get it up and running. On 1st I have engineers and service people readily available if necessary. Me and the 1st shift boss never really got along too well. He used to be a technician and he doesn't really like my tactics but he doesn't do anything about because I get the job done.

After fixing some of the problems from the night before I went and saw him about setting up the new machine. We were supposed to work on it together. He said he had too many other fires to put out today and that I would be on my own but if I needed help to come and get him. He expected that I would because I've never set up a new machine before.

By the time 3 o clock came around I had everything ready to go, we are just waiting on a part to come in before we can run a program through it. He came up and looked at what I had done, he thought for sure I wouldn't have gotten much done. He looked at me gestured for a fist bump and said "Good job." I fist bumped him back and said"Thank you." It made my day because he's not a complimentary kind of guy at all.

It made me happy and now I'm feeling like it might be okay to stay there for awhile. Tomorrow I get to work with the robots and that's my favorite part of the job.

I'll have to show one of my co-workers your blog here. He did cybernetics at University, and is always talking about the various information theories surrounding it (and has funny stories about robots running amok)
